For quite a while, Xander has chosen not to walk. He was able to walk holding on to something or someone with ease, but anytime he was by himself, he preferred to crawl. He is a very stubborn boy, and everything has to be done on his terms. Recently, he started to make the decision to be brave and venture out on his own. He began like this......
He would only walk to someone and needed a lot of encouragement. When we would walk successfully, he would get so very excited! It was absolutely adorable! And within just a few weeks, he began choosing to walk more and more, and even beginning to walk in between toys and to reach something a few feet away.
He now chooses to walk most of the time over crawling. He still struggles a bit with standing back up without holding on to something, but he has done it a couple of times, so it wont be very long until he is walking completely rather than crawling. He is doing pretty good in shoes as well which is a big deal since he doesnt wear shoes that often. The only problem with him walking, is that he wants to do it all the time. Sometimes it is important for him to stay in our laps (like at church) but because he is his own little man, he wants to walk down the isles at church!
We love the way he walks though. We tease that it looks like he is flexing his muscles as he walks showing off his big ol guns! Too cute!
