Holidays are one of the main times where it would be so much more fun and magical to have kids. We were bums a bit this year. i had to work all day and Eldon had class that night, so we didnt really do a whole lot, but my work had a big Halloween bash and we dressed up. Everyone's blogs look so cute with all the little ones in their fun costumes that i thought i would share a bit from my work party. Just for fun. We also had some of our Pet Therapy dogs dress up and a fun pumpkin decorating contest. PS if you cant tell what i am, we did a time machine theme and so my department is all dressed up like different eras....i got the 80's and am very proud of my 2 socks and rockin Kelly from Saved By the Bell Bangs :P

My latest projects
Since Eldon has been enjoying Halo 3 so much, I have had a little bit more time to spend on some of my favorite activities like scrapbooking and crafting and all of that fun stuff. I wanted to share some of my latest projects.
First, these wedding blocks are all thanks to my friend Becca! I'm not sure if she came up with the idea herself or borrowed it from someone else, but she helped me make mine and I love them! I am actually quite proud of myself and these wedding blocks! I love scrapbooking, but I haven't really ventured onto wood too much yet....although it is coming soon also thanks to Becca's influence. Its all just too cute and so much fun to be able to decorate your house using things that are meaningful to you. So these blocks are 4x4 inch blocks with our wedding photos and cute sayings on them. I am definitely going to have to make more!
The next project came from my sister. She and I were talking about the importance of Family Home Evening, but how hard it is sometimes to have everything together and coordinated and meaningful instead of just getting the family together for the favorite TV show on Monday night (a personal favorite past time of mine :P ) She said that she wished she had done more before she had kids when she had more time and a little less help, so I took the idea and have started to gather information and FHE lesson plans and activities from different websites. Maybe by the time we have kids old enough to really do productive FHE, I will have a bunch of these kits all put together and ready to go. I made a list of all my favorite websites for the FHE ideas and for the scrapbooking stuff to share. Let me know if you have any great sites or ideas to add to my project list!
You might be a redneck if....
My wonderful husband and his entire family tease about being rednecks since they come from the small town of Snowflake. Well this past weekend, my husband and his brother Brett showed some of their roots as they participated in the Thunder Raceway events. For those of you who know it....you know what i mean. For those of you not familiar with this event let me explain. Thunder Raceway is a ghetto make shift race track made out of mud. Drivers enter pretty much the day of as long as their cars meet the specific requirements. The races are anywhere from 4 to 25 laps long. The winners get nothing but bragging rights and the goal according to my brother in law....win or wreck! So my brother in law has participated in this event for this past season as a driver in the bomber class. it was described to me as the clown event of the race track. it is a free for all, no stopping race. His car was a '78 Mercury Grand Marquis boat. (its hard to see but it is the big boat with the 11 on the side in the dark picture) It had no windshield and the doors were chained shut (following regulations). Well this was the last race of the season and he invited my husband to be a passenger....to my dismay! All that protected my husband from sudden death in my eyes was a 30 year old seat belt and a borrowed motorcycle helmet. So Saturday, we sit on the bleachers in the freezing cold watching my brother in law, my husband, and two of their friends race around this dirt track. Well they didn't win and they only wrecked a few times. The best wreck of which left them attached to the car in front of them for 2 out of the 10 laps. I was freaking out like a good wife should and i don't think Eldon could have enjoyed himself more! He has always wanted to be a race car driver. he didn't get to drive but got to feel the speed....of 50 mph pedal to the metal. Everyone was fine and we all had a good laugh at the very least. It was an experience for sure!
