My Brother

Many of you might not know my brother, but for those of you fortunate enough to have met him....he is a riot! He has such a funny personality and is always the entertainment of the party. Well, he is currently in Honduras serving his mission. This past week on Thursday, Sept 20, he celebrated his 1 year anniversary of being out. So little brother if you happen to read this....Happy Hump Day! He is doing so great and we are so proud of him. We are so glad that it has been a year already and hope the next year goes by fast so we can hang out again! Its just not the same when family members are gone! To Celebrate his Happy Hump Day, I thought I would post a few of his latest and craziest pictures. He definitely hasnt lost any of his personality. The first picture he is showing off his latest purchase of real alligator skin boots (or something like that). The next picture is Super Boog (family nick name that he will kill me for, but i couldnt resist). The 3rd picture he found a Dr. Pepper can. He is not allowed to drink it and hasnt even been able to find it, so apparently this is as close as he can get. The last picture shows what he is down there doing....this is a real picture of one of his baptisms in the water. I am sure he loved it and was glad to be in the water. He is a swimmer so this is as close as he can get for the 2 years. :) We love you brother!
Just wanted to wish everyone a happy Halo 3 day!! =D

Heroes

So Eldon admitted to being a nerd with Transformers, so i guess it is my turn to confess.... I hardly have the time or opportunity to watch a ton of TV, but I seem to get hooked on shows that make you think and that you have to know the story from the week before or you will be lost on what is going on. For example, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, and CSI were like my favorite TV shows. I know it is cheesy and I fully admit that, but I really enjoyed them even so. Well, this past year I have found a new show to be hooked on....Heroes! Today was the premiere of season 2, and I have been waiting to watch it for like 4 months. The finale from season 1 left you hanging so dang bad! Tonight was a really good episode but this show really makes you think and try to guess what is coming and where the plot is going, so I will probably have to watch it again to get the full effect of the storyline and the potential twists for the future. This show is all about different peoples lives and their stories and eventually the stories come full circle and intertwine together, so it is fun to try to guess and see how that is going to happen :) So I guess I am a nerd too....but Eldon likes to watch the show with me, so we spend quality family time together, being nerds :P If you haven't seen or heard about the show and want to know what the heck I am talking about....go to http://www.nbc.com/Heroes/ and check it out.

Our Story

I realized that many of you might not know the whole story of how Eldon and I got together. It is actually a pretty interesting story with a big twist at the end...so read the whole thing!

ok, so Eldon and I actually met on an LDS dating website called LDSmingle.com. It is operated by Deseret Book which is how i came upon it. My good friend and coworker at the time, Shelly, had met her husband online and dared me to try it after I had been complaining about the dating scene. I gave it a shot but sort of as a joke. I didnt expect anything from it, but thought it might be interesting, so for a little fun, I posted this picture of myself from the previous Halloween.

Eldon had been on the website for a short time but hadnt really found anything much of interest. The computer matched Eldon and I as potential matches for each other with a rating of something like 96% compatible. Apparently my picture caught his eye, and his hottie picture definitely caught mine! I thought he was hot and his profile made him sound pretty normal and he was from Arizona! So we chatted for several weeks online and then he popped the question...if I wanted to meet in person. I was really nervous to meet him just because you never know with the Internet, so Eldon was set up to help put Christmas lights up at the Mesa Temple and asked me to come and help. I figured the temple was probably the safest spot for us to meet, so I went. We ended up talking for hours around the temple and he asked me out for the next night. We went out again and then the next night after that and have been together ever since. It really didnt take much time at all for us to know it was right and so in January, Eldon popped the real question and asked me to marry him.

We were married in the Mesa, Arizona Temple on August 12, 2006 and have lived happily ever after.

We went on our honeymoon to beautiful San Diego and to Sea World (my first time ever).

We now live in Mesa not too far from where I grew up and not too long of a drive from Snowflake (Eldon's hometown).

Ok...so here is the twist....while Eldon and I were looking for pictures for our wedding video, we came across some pictures from Eldons airport departure for his mission. As we started looking through the pictures we came across some faces that i recognized. Eldon said the girl in the picture was just some random girl at the airport, well it turns out that i was at the airport with that random girl and remembered her getting in the background of other missionary pictures. We started looking through more pictures and found ME sitting in the background of Eldon's family pictures....SMALL WORLD. I happened to be at the airport to see off a friend (that i had only met 2 weeks earlier) for his mission and got to see my future husband off for his mission. That day, there were about 30 missionaries leaving from the gate to Salt Lake, and I remembered thinking that only one of the missionaries were cute....well Eldon had pictures of the whole group and he was the only good looking one, so i checked out my husband about 4 years before i re-met and married him :) I think that it was definitely meant to be and I am so grateful for such an amazing husband and the life that we have together.

News to me!

How amazing is my husband! My sister called me up and asked what my blog address was because her friend had come across it. I told her we didn't have one. I had wanted to start one when we were engaged to put all the wedding info up but never really got around to it. We both thought that was weird and got a bit of a laugh out of it. Later that night I told Eldon about the conversation. It turns out, he had set up this blog site and made 2 posts without even letting me know. Once I saw the blog I was so proud of him :) It was so cute and fun, and I was beyond amazed. I hope all his friends know how much they mean to him for him to set something like this up to keep in touch. We really do wish we could keep in touch better. Life has flown by incredibly fast and it is really being a challenge to keep up. I used to get so mad at my friends that fell off the face of the Earth once they got married...I definitely understand and relate now! We will try to better in the coming months and keep this site updated as much as possible. Unfortunately, we don't have any adorable babies yet for you all to look at, so in the meantime, it will be just boring ol' us. Sorry! Hopefully babies are in the somewhat near future of the next year to two years or so, and then this site will be more interesting. Our life is pretty much the same as Eldon's update in the last blog. We have almost been married for 13 months! When we hit a year, we couldn't believe it! Life has been very busy but incredibly happy. We couldn't have imagined how happy marriage would make us! We are loving our new apartment. We feel like we live at the Ritz compared to the last tiny place! We are just truckin' along working and Eldon going to school. Church also keeps us hoppin' around. I am the Mia Maid advisor for Young Women's and Eldon just got called as the Teachers Quorum advisor so no more primary for us....We graduated up. well, that is all for now. until next time....
